Jack L. Dr. Weiss received his Medical Degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology the University of California-San Diego. Prior to returning to California to perform Cataract Surgery in San Diego, Dr. Weiss attended a Fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Weiss is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California-San Diego where he assists eye surgeons in residency providing Cataract Surgery to San Diego patients. Dr. Weiss has served as the Corneal Consultant to the U.S. Navy and has been part of the teaching faculty of Albany Medical College, Columbia University and the University of Minnesota. He has been in private practice in San Diego since 1982. During that time he has served as the President of the San Diego Eye Bank, as well as Chief of Ophthalmology for Scripps Encinitas Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital and Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in greater San Diego.
Dr. Weiss provides his patients with advanced techniques of Cataract Surgery in San Diego that require only a very tiny incision, no patches and only eye drops for anesthesia-the “no stitch, no patch, no needle” Cataract Surgery procedure-so that his patients can benefit from very quick visual recovery times with minimal interruption in their daily routines. He has published numerous scientific articles and lectured extensively throughout the United States. Dr. Weiss is widely recognized for his contribution to training eye surgeons in techniques of Cataract Surgery produced through a teaching video with the American Academy of Ophthalmology to train eye surgeons to perform safer anesthetic techniques for Cataract Surgery and advanced Cataract Phacoemulsification, the preferred method of Cataract Surgery in the United States and abroad.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Castroviejo Corneal Society, the San Diego County Medical Society, the Refractive Surgery Interest Group of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has served as the Director of the San Diego Eye Bank.
