Dr. John Mauro is the newest member of the North Shore Eye Care team in Smithtown. Dr. Mauro performs Cataract Surgery on Long Island for Cataract patients from throughout Suffolk and Nassau counties. He earned his Medical Degree from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by an Internship at Mercy Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Mauro then completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at Nassau County Medical Center/Stony Brook University where he served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Mauro has completed a Fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School where he obtained specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of uveitis, complex ocular inflammatory diseases as well as Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation. He is an attending Ophthalmologist at St. Catherine's of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown New York and is active in teaching Ophthalmology residents at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center various eye surgery techniques.
