Robert Maloney, M.D. is a Cornea Specialist, Refractive Surgeon and Cataract Surgeon in Los Angeles California where he performs Cataract Surgery in Los Angeles for Cataract patients from Beverly Hills, Westwood, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, the San Fernando Valley and throughout greater Los Angeles and southern California. Dr. Maloney received his Medical Degree from the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to returning to Los Angeles Dr. Maloney attended a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Emory University. Dr. Maloney is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California (UCLA) Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. He provides consultation for Cataract patients who are not completely satisfied with the results or vision correction afforded by their previous Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation.

As a Cornea specialist, Dr. Maloney provides his patients with the most advanced techniques of Cataract Surgery in Los Angeles that require only a very tiny incision, no patches and only eye drops for anesthesia-the “no stitch, no patch, no needle” Cataract Surgery procedure-so that his patients can benefit from very quick visual recovery times with minimal interruption in their daily routines.

As a Refractive and Cataract Surgeon, Dr. Maloney is committed to helping Los Angeles Cataract patients achieve their vision correction goals after Cataract Surgery in California. To help those with Cataracts achieve greater independence and possibly eliminate the need for eyeglasses, reading glasses or bifocals after Cataract Surgery, Dr. Maloney routinely recommends aspheric lens implants for those Cataract patients requiring the sharpest distance vision in dim lighting conditions, astigmatism correcting toric lens implants for those Cataract patients with significant amounts of astigmatism and near vision presbyopia correcting lens implants, such as the Crystalens® Intraocular Lens (IOL), the AcrySof®ReSTOR® Intraocular Lens (IOL) and the ReZoom™ Multifocal Lens Implant for those Cataract patients wishing to have their distance, arm’s length and near vision corrected after Cataract Surgery without eyeglasses, bifocals or reading glasses.

Patients who have had successful LASIK Surgery and now have entered the age group where they have developed a Cataract often have higher expectations than ever for their vision after Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation. The Light-Adjustable Lens (LAL) by Calhoun Vision has the potential to provide Cataract patients with clear distance acuity without eyeglasses. Dr. Maloney is one of five Cataract Surgeons in the United States currently conducting FDA Clinical Trials for the Light-Adjustable Lens (LAL).

Dr. Maloney is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2001 Distinguished Lans Award, presented by the International Society of Refractive Surgery, for his innovative contributions to the field of vision-correction surgery. The American Academy of Ophthalmology awarded him the Senior Honor Award for contributions to the education of other eye surgeons and the Secretariat Award for contributions to the Academy. Dr. Maloney has published more than 100 articles, abstracts, and reports in professional journals and has delivered more than 200 invited lectures on five continents.
