JoAnn Cong Yin Chang, M.D. is a Cornea Specialist and Cataract Surgeon in greater Boston Massachusetts at D'Ambrosio Eye Care with offices in Lancaster, Acton and Gardner. Dr. Chang earned her Medical Degree at The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, followed by an Internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She then completed a Residency in Ophthalmology at The University of Chicago Hospitals, Department of Ophthalmology and was chosen to attend a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the John Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. At the John Moran Eye Center she obtained specialized training and experience in advanced Cataract Surgery and Intraocular Lens Implantation (IOL) including management of complex Cataract problems and Cataract Surgery complications.
As a Corneal Specialist, Dr. Chang provides her Cataract patients with the most advanced techniques of Cataract Surgery in Boston that require only a very tiny incision, no patches and only eye drops for anesthesia-the “no stitch, no patch, no needle” Cataract Surgery procedure-so that her patients can benefit from very quick visual recovery times with minimal interruption in their daily routines.
As a Refractive and Cataract Surgeon, Dr. Chang is committed to helping Boston Cataract patients achieve their personal vision correction goals after Cataract Surgery in Boston. Dr. Chang routinely recommends aspheric lens implants for those Cataract patients requiring the sharpest distance vision in dim lighting conditions and astigmatism correcting toric lens implants for those Cataract patients with significant amounts of astigmatism. To help her patients achieve greater independence and possibly eliminate the need for eyeglasses, reading glasses or bifocals after Cataract Surgery, she recommends near vision presbyopia correcting lens implants, such as the Crystalens® Accommodating Lens Implant (IOL), the AcrySof® ReSTOR® Lens Implant (IOL), the Tecnis® Multifocal Lens Implant (IOL) and the ReZoom™ Multifocal Lens Implant (IOL).
Dr. Chang is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the recipient of the Harvey Klein Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology Resident Education, a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and has received First Honors from the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Vision Research in Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
